If anyone can take an Outer Limits worthy premise like this one–most of the world has vanished and the shadows are coming for us– and make it work, it’s Brad Anderson. From Happy Accidents to Session 9 to The Machinist, almost everything the guy has done has been riveting in some way.
I like too that he’s still avoiding big budget fx fests in favor of more intriguing and less easily marketed genre fare. Personally, I’m getting a real Kairo vibe from this, that Kiyoshi Kurosawa film about the world of the dead overtaking that of the living. In particular the shot of the falling plane and the roving shadows seem similar to that picture.
Since it was already remade as Pulse a few years back, I think its safe to say Anderson is on a different track here. With a disparate cast like Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo, I’m very curious to see how this turns out and what secrets its hiding.
Are you a Brad Anderson fan? Think you have the plot twists figured out? Lets hear about it below!

Hey it posted, good.
If this is half as good as night of the comet I’ll be happy with it.
