Teaser for Hungarian fantasy ‘In the Name of Sherlock Holmes’
The international film scene has seemed to only recently discover the Americn adventure films of the 1980′s. Im thinking of the work of Spielberg, Dante, Zemeckis and most of Amblin’s output. Recent productions like Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale and Troll Hunter have embraced and captured that magical sense of adolescent wonder and pulpy danger that we saw in stuff like The Goonies and Young Sherlock Holmes.
Now, Hungarian director Zsolt Bernath is jumping into the family friendly fantasy pool with ‘In the Name of Sherlock Holmes’ a supernatural adventure about disappearing city children and the young sleuths racing to save them. There’s not much to this particular teaser–no real footage or production shots– but it gives one a feel for the atmosphere and verve Bernath is going for. The last shot in particular, reminds me of Stephen King’s It or Stand By Me.
What do you think? If you were 11 and Hungarian, wouldn’t this be at the very top of your must-see movies?
