Soderbergh’s ‘Contagion’ looks to spread fear
Steven Soderbergh, who recently announced his retirement, has a new film on the horizon, and according to this trailer, it just might be a doozy. Working with the ideas of viral contamination, government quarantine, and societal disintegration, the director looks to have crafted a multi-faceted view of a modern plague. Think Traffic, but trade up the war on drugs to a war on a lethal outbreak set to wipeout a good portion of the United States.
There are echoes of several other films here–particularly that recent spat of zombie movies we got–but Soderbergh is versatile enough to pull this off and give us something new and potentially, terrifying.
What do you think? Caught the bug yet?

Not sure about this. One one hand I like apocalyptic movies but this seems very…restrained, maybe? And I am generally skeptical of the Irwin Allen approach of multiple Hollywood stars in a disaster movie. On the other hand it hints strongly that they kills off Gwyneth Paltrow character and that’s great. Now if only they could do the same to her Clod Play front man husband.
do you know what that piece of music they used was from? It sounds very familiar but I am not a movie score guy so I can’t place it.
I don’ buy for a minute Soderbergh is quitting, long vacation is really more like it.
