‘Cloud Atlas’ jumps to top of must-see list with new trailer

Well, hello there Cloud Atlas! Where have you been?

I’ve read David Mitchell’s fascinating and daunting science fiction novel Cloud Atlas, but I never would’ve assumed it would be filmable. I’m also not sure I’d have banked on the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer being the ones to do it justice.
And yet, this fascinating and visually jaw-dropping trailer makes me re-think my position. It’s an exposition heavy trailer, but it puts to rest fears that they don’t get the book; this looks like it will be a rather faithful and ambitious undertaking.

The cast is impressive to boot, just look at it;  Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Bae Doona, Zhou Xun, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant. The era-spanning epic will make a debut at the Toronto Film Festival, and I look forward to the word-of-mouth in the wake of that screening.

For the rest of us, we have to wait for October 27th. For me, it can’t come fast enough
