Now that Expendables 2 has once again primed us for the old guard blowing things up, it’s time for Summit to remind us of that other geriatric spy flick from 2010, Reds. Although Reds never quite lit up the blogosphere with praise, it did pretty darn well for itself at the autumn box-office and I personally enjoyed it more than Expendables.
While The A Team and The Losers were my personal favorites in this mini-trend, I wouldn’t mind watching a follow-up to Red if they can find something for the characters to do. Malkovich and Cox were my favorite players last time around, although Mirren was lovely as ever and Freeman brought his usual gentle gusto to the screen. If there’s one regret I have, is that’s Ernest Borgnine won’t be around for another cheerful cameo.
Although Summit isn’t releasing this until next August, it’s never too early for a poster, and the vibrant silhouette style reminds of a graphic novel, which is where Red originated.
Is there anyone out there that dug the first and wouldn’t mind seeing a second? What do you think of the poster?

I was not that impressed with the first. It had it’s moments. I did like it more than the first Expendables. But as a whole I was a little let down. Maybe I had my hopes set to high. Maybe I should watch it again. Either way, I am sure I will end up seeing this.
